City Services, City Updates, Water|

Bellevue Residents:

We apologize for the water service disruption and appreciate your understanding. In March of 2024, the main valve that allows the city to control the flow of water into our storage reservoir failed. It took over 9 months to receive replacement parts due to supply shortages. This week, we worked with GSE Construction to remove and replace the failed parts and upgrade the flow meter. The 750 lb valve needed to be lifted over the security fence, lowered into a 3′ x3′ access hatch and down 25′ to the control vault. We had some delays draining the tank, but the crew was able to complete the task on Tuesday and Wednesday. The system should be fully operational early this afternoon.
Update: The new valve has been installed. We have turned everything back on and the tank is filling. We have increased the pressure at the well on Chestnut and at the booster station to help with the pressure issues until the tank is full. It will take between 13 and 16 hours to fill depending on demand from irrigation and water use.
While we will continue to work to improve the city’s water system, we do not anticipate any other service interruptions this summer.
