On August 20th, during a fire hydrant replacement at 6th and Birch, an unexpected water valve break caused water pressure in parts of the City’s system to drop below 20 psi. Out of an abundance of caution and in accordance with state safety standards, the City of Bellevue issued a Water Boil Advisory to ensure the continued safety of our residents.
We want to emphasize that this advisory was a precautionary measure. When water pressure drops, there is a small chance that bacteria could enter the system, and the advisory helped protect public health while we completed testing.
The good news: lab results are now in and show no bacteria or pathogens were detected in Bellevue’s water system. Effective immediately, the Water Boil Advisory has been lifted.
Our water is safe to drink, and all residents may resume normal use.
We greatly appreciate the patience and understanding of the community as we worked through this process to ensure safe drinking water for all.
